No change in Iran's foreign policy: Haddad Adel

Tehran, July 2, IRNA

Visiting Iranian Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel stressed in Brussels on Friday that Iran's foreign policy based on detente and maintaining regional peace and stability would not change in future.

According to the Majlis Press Department, in a meeting with Belgian Foreign Minister Karel De Gucht, the Iranian speaker said that based on Paris agreement, Tehran insistently called for having access to a peaceful nuclear technology.

He referred to the removal of some certain ambiguities for European officials on Iran's nuclear dossier and stressed that Tehran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was "positive."
Hadad Adel also expressed hope that the EU big three (Britain, Germany and France) would put forward their comprehensive proposal to Iran as soon as possible.

The EU big trio foreign ministers agreed to provide Iran with detailed proposals by August on how to end the dispute over Tehran's nuclear programs.

The Belgian minister, for his part, called for expansion of bilateral ties between Iran and the European Union, expressing hope that promotion of Iran's political and economic relations with the European states would help finding a solution for Tehran's nuclear issue.

Iran's Majlis speaker arrived in Brussels on Thursday on a three-day visit accompanied by three Iranian MPs.

So far, he held talks with a number of Belgian officials on ways to bolster Tehran-Brussels cooperation, particularly between the two parliaments.

Haddad Adel's visit is taking place at the official invitation of his Belgian counterpart Herman De Croo.
