Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid reza Asefi said here Saturday that the American administration which claims to be an advocate of democracy should respect the Iranian nation's choice and stop intervening in Iran's internal affairs.
Asefi said the Iranian nation's massive participation in two rounds of presidential elections proved their interest in determining their own destiny.
He said Iranians' votes also demonstrated their strong opposition to US policies.
Asefi pointed to the US policies towards Iran which is based on interfering in Tehran's internal affairs and described them as being utterly 'incorrect'.
Though the Americans had already referred to Iranian presidential elections as having quite 'known' results, he said, now the US State Department spokesman describes the results as being quite
unpredictable' and 'accidental'.
The spokesman said that the recent elections should teach a lesson to the American officials to be more cautious and also avoid making unfounded remarks.
