Iran's Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Hassan Rowhani here Tuesday stressed the Islamic Republic's legal right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

Addressing a press conference, Rowhani said that use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes has now become an inevitable issue for all world states.

He added that regional states, too, should make efforts to gain access to the technology to meet their energy needs in the near future.

Iran's senior nuclear official further highlighted the importance of consultations among region's neighboring and friendly countries on key regional developments.

Tehran believed regional security within the framework of Resolution 598 among the Persian Gulf regional states including Iraq, Yemen and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council is of high importance, he stated.

Rowhani expressed Iran's readiness to sign security agreements particularly to fight against terrorism, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, illicit drugs smuggling and organized crimes.

Shifting to nuclear talks between Iran and Europe, the SNSC secretary noted that Europeans were after a comprehensive plan which would guarantee economic and nuclear cooperation and stressed that Iran would accept the plan only if it entailed the fundamental points proposed by Iran.

Iran will accept the European plan only on the conditions that it is allowed to produce nuclear fuel inside the country, he said.

He termed possibility of US or Israel attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities as faint reasoning that both countries were well aware of the fact that Iran would show a severe and strong reaction to such measures.

He noted that both the US and Israel were quite aware of Iran's military power.

Rowhani also pointed out that Iranian Majlis has assigned the government to carry out necessary measures to produce
nuclear energy.

"The Islamic Republic has accepted all international regulations on fuel production for nuclear refineries and observes them. Nuclear facilities are being constructed according to the standards of the International Atomic Energy Agency."
He assessed his negotiations with senior Emirate officials as successful and said the other side has no concerns over Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

The SNSC secretary is currently in Abu Dhabi at the second leg of his week-long regional tour which has already taken him to Kuwait where he discussed topics of mutual interest with the country's senior officials.

Rowhani is scheduled to leave Abu Dhabi for Yemen on Wednesday.

On the final leg of his tour he will be visiting Saudi Arabia.
