Iran, Azerbaijan ink MoU on defense

Iran-Azerbaijan-MoU
Iran and Azerbaijan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on defense cooperation here on Monday.
The agreement was signed by Iran's defense Minister Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani and his Azeri counterpart Colonel General Safar Abiyev.
The MoU sets the framework for expansion of defense cooperation and consolidation of peace and stability in the region.
The accord was signed in the wake of second round of talks by the two states' defense ministers.
During the negotiation, Shamkhani said that Iran will not withhold any efforts to bolster bilateral ties and help boost tranquility and welfare of the two nations as well as the whole region.
He hoped that the regional misunderstandings will be settled through negotiations.
Abiyev, for his part, expressed satisfaction over the advance has been made in Iran's defense industries.
He added that the agreement was the main outcome of his visit to Iran, calling it (MoU) as a great stride taken to promote bilateral cooperation particularly in defense field.
The Azeri minister left Tehran for Baku earlier today.
