Iran-Independence-Haddad Adel
Majlis Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel here Monday said that access to nuclear technology and scientific progress in recent years is the practical outcome of an independent ruling system.
Speaking at a public gathering in Shazand on the 2nd day of his tour to Markazi (central) province, he added that the Islamic Revolution is the fruit of people's efforts to gain independence and avoid reliance on foreign powers.
"The enemies of Islam cannot tolerate a developed government founded upon religious models and independent from the world powers.
They will try their utmost to undermine the country's independence.
"Western heads of state are intent on exploiting the major resources of such countries by resorting to illusive pretexts such as establishment of freedom and democracy, while Iran is the only state which has made their relevant formulas invalid," he added.
Haddad Adel said that on the eve of the 9th presidential election, the opponents of the ruling system use every possible means to discourage people from voting and participating in the event.
"However, the Iranians will disappoint the enemies by turning out at polling booths and casting their votes," he added.
The speaker pointed to halting the soaring trend of the prices of various services across the country as one of the significant measures taken by the seventh Majlis and said that this has partly provided the public with peace of mind.
"Nonetheless, all the problems facing the community cannot be settled within a short period," he added.
