Iran plans to continue its talks with the EU, but it will never abandon its inalienable right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, vowed Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi here on Thursday.
Kharrazi made the statement in a meeting with the visiting Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah bin Ahmad Badawi, who supported Tehran's right to use nuclear technology within the framework of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Tehran will remain committed to the NPT and confidence-building measures, stressed Kharrazi reiterating Iran will not give up its absolute right to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
"Eclectic and discriminatory approaches can, by no means, solve problems facing the world community," noted the foreign minister.
On April 13, former director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Hans Blix, said Iranians "have a right" to enrich.
Blix, who headed the UN Arms Inspection Program in Iraq before the launch of the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, added, "It is in the Non-Proliferation Treaty. The Japanese are parties of that treaty, the Brazilians are parties of that treaty, they do it, (and) no one objects to that."
"As far as I understood Iranians beginning to make hydrofluoride, which is not enriched uranium," sad Blix expressing doubt about the latest claim that Iran was threatening to restart its fuel cycle program.
