Iran, Algeria review expansion of defence cooperation

Iran-Algeria-Cooperation
Algerian Army Chief of Staff Brigadier General Ahmad Qaed Saleh along with the commander of air, sea and forces conferred here Monday with the visiting Iranian Defense Minister Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani on expansion of military cooperation between the two countries.
At the meeting, the Algerian Army Chief briefed Shamkhani on the latest military status of Algeria and called for continued military and technical cooperation between the two forces.
Shamkhani, for his part, said that the existing defense capabilities of Iran have prepared grounds for exchange of military and technical expertise between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to exchange expert delegations to help promote the current level of defense cooperation to a satisfactory level, he said.
Heading a high-ranking political delegation, Shamkhani arrived in the Algerian capital on Saturday morning on a three-day official visit which took place at the invitation of the country's President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika who is also is head of the Armed Forces and responsible for national defense.
The Iranian minister also held talks with Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia.
The Algerian prime minister is due to pay a visit to Iran at the invitation of Iran's First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Aref.
During his stay in Algiers, Shamkhani also held talks with Algerian Parliament Speaker Abdel Kader Bin Salih on Sunday night.
