Khatami says peaceful nuclear technology right of all nations (1)

President Mohammad Khatami said here Wednesday that access to peaceful nuclear technology is the right of all nations which strive to progress in science, and technology and achive economic development.
Following a visit to the uranium enrichment facilities in Isfahan, he spoke at a press conference of with domestic and foreign journalists.
Khatami emphasized that the right to peaceful nuclear technology is specially appropriate for those countries who abide by
international safeguards and are a member of the
Non-proliferation-Treaty (NPT).
Iran, through its own expertise and knowledge and under sever international sanctions, has acquired peaceful nuclear technology and is on the threshold of building nuclear power plants with the initiative and efforts of its children, he added.
"My visit from 'Isfahan' and 'Natanz' facilities is the most credible evidence that Iran's activities will not be diverted to nuclear weapons production," the president said.
Furthermore, the transparent investments in the nuclear program is indicative of the fact that Iran does not intend to seek weapons of mass destruction, he stated.
"Was there any doubt that Iran's transparent program would eventually be found by others?"
But, because form the beginning Iran intended to acquire peaceful nuclear technology in a legal manner, it started its program on a clear path, he retorted.
