IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Natanz, Isfahan prov, March 30, IRNA
Iran-IAEO-Natanz
The Natanz uranium enrichment complex is the achievement of Iranian experts, Deputy Head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization for International and Planning Affairs Mohammad Saeedi said here Wednesday.

Talking to reporters after President Mohammad Khatami's three-hour inspection tour of the Natanz complex, Saeedi added it was predicted some 50,000 centrifuges would be active in the complex to provide fuel needed for one nuclear power plant.

Noting that Iran suspended uranium enrichment voluntarily, he said the completion processes of the complex's major facilities have been also suspended.

The IAEO official stressed that inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspect the Natanz facilities every month on average.

He said all parts of the centrifuges used in the Natanz complex are manufactured by Iranian experts.

Saeedi expressed hope Iran would reach a solution in talks with the Europeans and would resume enrichment activities in the future.

Head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization Gholam Reza Aqazadeh, Governor General of Isfahan Mahmoud Hassani and Vice President and Head of the Department of the Environment (DoE) Massoumeh Ebtekar as well as IAEO managers accompanied President Khatami on his inspection tour of Natanz.

Khatami is also scheduled to inspect the UCF project Wednesday evening.
