IRAN-EU: HARD, BUT NECESSARY DIALOG

RIA Novosti

TEHRAN, March 22. (RIA Novosti's Nikolai Terekhov) - On Wednesday, Iran, Britain, France and Germany will hold another round of talks to resolve the situation around Iranian nuclear programs.

"The talks will begin in Paris on Wednesday, as part of the work of three commissions [on security, politics and economy]," a source in the Iranian Foreign Ministry reported on Tuesday.

He believes that "the results of the Paris round will be to a large extent decisive in solving the problem of Iranian nuclear programs."

The previous negotiations between Iran and the EU were held in early March in Geneva. Once again the parties failed to reach full agreement on Iran's activities towards further development of nuclear technologies.

The EU insists on introducing an indefinite moratorium on uranium enrichment, while Tehran maintains it has the right for peaceful development of nuclear technologies, which is the reason why it has suspended uranium enrichment activities to create an atmosphere of trust during the talks.

Washington has announced its willingness to assist Europeans in the nuclear dialog with the Islamic Republic, but Iran does not think that the US participation will be of any use.

On Monday, Iran's spiritual leader and head of state, Ayatollah Ali Hoseini Khameinei once again confirmed the peaceful purposes of his country's nuclear programs and described statements that Iran sought to create a nuclear bomb as "inventions" contradicting the truth.

"Iran does not seek to create nuclear weapons because Islam prohibits it," he said.
