Iran-Kharrazi-Conference
No incentive can replace Iran's legal right to use nuclear technology, said Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi at a press conference here Tuesday.
Kharrazi made the remark in response to a question about the economic incentives proposed by the US and Europe to Iran if it freezes its nuclear activities.
"There is no incentive," Kharrazi said noting that even if there would have been any incentive, that could not be in exchange for our legal right."
The Iranian minister stressed that if the US was willing to make good on its previous mistakes and lift its sanctions imposed on Iran "this can not be called an incentive." "No economic incentive can be equal to Iran's right," Kharrazi reiterated.
Asked if Iran has set any deadline for the EU to finish the nuclear talks, the minister said that the two sides should evaluate the process of their talks after three months as it was decided in the Paris Accord and the report which is supposed to be submitted to the Steering Committee meeting on March 23, "is the criteria for the continuation of the talks."
Praising the capability of the Iranian delegation to the talks with the EU, Kharrazi said that the ongoing talks are so sensitive and decisive that no one can predict its outcome.
As for restricting the uranium enrichment activities by Tehran, Kharrazi said that the extent of the restriction would be clear during the talks.
"The negotiating countries should notice that Iran is a capable state in the field of nuclear technology and has even announced it officially," Kharrazi said.
