France approves Russia's decision to return N-waste from Iran

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Paris, March 13, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Russia's decision to supply Iran with nuclear fuel, simultaneously controlling its return after work in reactors 'is a very strong initiative'. This opinion was expressed on Sunday by French Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie in an interview with the Monde newspaper.

"Russia takes major steps on control in the framework of its nuclear cooperation with Iran," the minister noted, replying to a question of whether Russian deliveries of nuclear fuel for Iranian nuclear power stations are dangerous.

At the same time, Alliot-Marie noted that the positions of Europe and the US came somewhat closer concerning the Iranian nuclear problem.

Nevertheless, 'the danger of a possibility that the UN may use sanctions against Iran remains', the minister stated.

Alliot-Marie regards as a serious positive factor a premise that the West succeeds now in evoking Iran's interest by advantages, promising it cooperation on this question with the international community. After abandoning its nuclear program, Iran can receive aid in developing the country and a possibility for integrating its economy in the economy of the West as well as a possibility of joining NATO.
