US participation in Iran-EU talks to be destructive - diplomat

Tehran, March 13, IRNA
Tehran, March 13, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- The US participation in negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program would be destructive, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Sunday. "Washington proceeds from an erroneous presumption that Iran wants an access to nuclear weapons. The United States should review its position and give the issue an objective consideration with due account of lawful interests of the Iranian people. Otherwise, the US participation in the negotiations would do nothing but harm," Hamid Reza Asefi said.
Negotiations with the EU Troika on the Iranian nuclear program 'have been progressing with difficulty. So far they do not meet the Iranian expectations in full," he said.
However, it would be premature to draw conclusions, the spokesman said. He reaffirmed that Iran had no fears about possible transfer of its nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council.
