IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Prayers Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani here Friday expressed the hope that rationality and logic would replace a tendency towards monopoly, pride and discrimination in examination of Iran`s nuclear case. Making the remark in the second sermon of today`s Friday Prayers before thousands of worshipers gathered at Tehran University campus, he said that no wise person would treat a civilized and strong country which enjoys strong public support and has repeatedly proven itself in many cases of harsh situations like this. He said the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the European Union and the US should know that Iran will never forsake its right for conducting nuclear activities. Rafsanjani, who is also the chief of country`s Expediency Council, said that the IAEA was dutybound to transfer nuclear technology to all countries and stressed that the Iranian nation, too, should be able to manipulate nuclear technology. Pointing out that the IAEA has been putting extreme pressure on Iran on the past years by sending numerous inspectors to the country and compiling reports, the substitute Friday Prayers leader went on to underline that Iran has now managed to rise itself to the level of a power of a remarkable technology in the world. Referring to the nuclear negotiations between Iran and its partners as an attempt aiming at creating further transparency on Iran`s nuclear activities, he noted that Iran let the IAEA inspectors be present in all stages of uranium enrichment process though it was quite aware that the inspectors could not legally demand inspections from a number of its sites. Touching upon elections in Iraq, the Expediency Council chief said the Iraqi nation managed to successfully pass through one of the most sensitive stages of their independence namely the holding of elections and forming the national assembly despite numerous threats of enemies and the opponents. Rafsanjani recommended the Iraqi nation not allow the arrogant and occupying countries to gain dominance over their parliament and government. 1424/1771
