Russia, Iran continue atomic energy project talks - official

Bushehr, Feb 27, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Russia is a priority partner in Iran`s atomic energy program, Iranian Vice President and head of the Atomic Energy Organization Gholamreza Aqazadeh said on Sunday. He said Iran has announced the wish to build seven nuclear power plants, including Bushehr, but now the parliament is considering a larger number of nuclear power plant projects. Russia and Iran are holding negotiations on the construction of more nuclear power plants. "We will discuss these plans at a meeting with Russian Federal Atomic Energy Agency head Alexander Rumyantsev in several months," he said. He said assembly works at the Bushehr NPP would be over in ten months, then the equipment would be tested, the unit would be started up and reach the rated capacity of 1,000 megawatt. /2322/1432
