Bushehr nuclear power station symbol of Russo-Iranian cooperation

Tehran, Feb 27, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, 
the former Iranian president and the chairman of the Expediency 
Council, told Alexander Rumyantsev, the head of the Russian Federal 
Agency for Nuclear Energy, at a meeting late on Saturday that the 
Bushehr nuclear power station should symbolize Russian-Iranian 
cooperation. 
"We hope that Moscow will turn this vital project into a 
historical symbol of bilateral cooperation despite pressure from 
Iran`s political foes," Rafsanjani emphasized. 
He added that the completion of the nuclear power station in 
Bushehr would strengthen mutual trust and become the basis for further
development of ties between Russia and Iran. 
In turn, Iranian Minister of Economy and Finance Safdar Hosseini 
who also met Rumyantsev said that Iran hoped for Russia`s support of 
its lawful right to generate nuclear energy independently. 
A Russian-Iranian agreement on return of spent nuclear fuel from 
Iran to Russia and a supplementary protocol for the construction of 
the nuclear power station in Bushehr were signed during Rumyantsev`s 
current visit to Iran.
