IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, Feb 25, IRNA -- German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer here Friday reiterated the need for "objective guarantees" on peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program following talks with the Secretary of Iran`s Supreme National Security Council Hassan Rowhani. "Our goal is to remove international concerns about Iran`s nuclear program and the main issue is objective guarantees which ensure Iran`s nuclear program is mainly for peaceful purposes," Fischer said during a joint news conference with Rowhani at the foreign ministry. "To achieve such a thing, won`t be easy. It is a difficult challenge, but I think the goal is worth it. Hence we should attempt everything to reach such objective guarantees, in an effort to achieve such an agreement," added Fischer. The German minister made clear a final nuclear agreement would lead to "deepening ties in economic, technological and also political sphere". Germany, France and Britain are engaged in sensitive political and nuclear negotiations with Iran on a long-term political accord. Rowhani, accompanied by Iran`s nuclear negotiation team, comprised of Sirus Nasseri, Hossein Moussavian and Amir Zamaninia, was also due to meet later in the day with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.
