Rowhani upbeat on "positive outcome" of nuclear talks in March

Berlin, Feb 25, IRNA -- Secretary of Iran`s National Security Council Hassan Rowhani here Friday expressed optimism about a "positive and good result" of the nuclear negotiations between Iran and Europe in March after his meeting with German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer. "We hope that through the actions of the four countries (Iran, EU3), we can witness a good and positive result in March," Rowhani said during a joint press briefing with Fischer. He voiced hope that a lasting Iran-Europe nuclear accord would also lead to "strengthening of ties between Europe and Iran and "pave the way for resolving many regional issues." Pointing to "good" discussions with Fischer, Rowhani said, "These negotiations have an important message for the world and it is that the most complicated international issues can be resolved through holding dialogue." Rowhani stressed that the objective of his visit of Germany was to to speed up the nuclear and political talks between Europe and Iran. "Both sides have stressed the need to become more active in the talks," he added, referring to his talks with Fischer. Rowhani made clear that the main issue of the nuclear negotiations was to find ways to ensure "objective guarantees for the European side are obtained and "firm guarantees for Iran" are secured.
