IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Feb 13, IRNA -- Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad Adel said Sunday that Iran is optimistic about the outcome of its nuclear talks with the European Union, saying the talks will continue until both sides arrive at a real guarantee. In his meeting with Norwegian ambassador to Tehran, Haddad Adel underlined Iran`s undeniable right to make use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. "The government enjoys public support which is the most important asset in the Islamic system. Iran does to need to have weapons of mass destruction (WMD) given such an asset," he underlined. Defining the policies the US has taken against Iran, he noted that the US cannot tolerate an independent country in the Middle East and opposes Iran on whatever pretext. Elsewhere, Haddad Adel voiced the support of the Majlis for foreign investment, saying that the Majlis is looking for restoration of financial discipline in the country. The Majlis is ready to support promotion of relations between Iran and Norway, he added. The Norwegian diplomat, Ole Christian Hothe stressed that Iran plays an important role to restore peace and stability to the region. He also referred to the growing relations between the two countries, saying that relations in industrial, economic and trade sectors have been developed in the recent years. 1405/2322/1432
