Iran may sign framework accord with EU Troika by late May
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Paris, Feb 13, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Iran may sign a framework agreement on its nuclear program with the EU Troika by the end of May, chief negotiator with the EU Troika Hussein Mousavian said. "If the EU Troika attitude remains serious during the next two rounds of consultations, it is possible to sign the agreement within the next three months," he said. The second round of negotiations between Iran and the EU Troika -- France, the United Kingdom and Germany -- ended in Geneva on Friday. European sources say that the sides have not resolved the main problem, that is the future of Iran`s uranium enrichment program. In November 2004 Iran assumed a unilateral commitment to suspend the uranium enrichment program for the period of the negotiations. But the EU Troika wants a final termination of any works in the enrichment of uranium and plutonium. Iran has been rejecting this proposal so far. /2322/1432
