Asefi lauds Iran`s stand on nuclear energy
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Feb 10, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi here on Thursday termed Tehran`s stand regarding nuclear energy issue as wise. Asefi who was among participants in the rallies marking the 26th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution told IRNA that the Islamic Republic of Iran has never been after development of nuclear weapons. Tehran will do all within its diplomatic potentials to hold negotiations with other countries on the issue, he added. The main reason behind the US hostility towards the Islamic Republic is that Washington`s hegemonic policy was resisted in Iran and the Mideast region, Asefi noted. He further reiterated that the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran proved to the Muslim nations that they could resist against oppressive policies of the despotic regimes. Asefi said that wise leadership of the Father of the Islamic Revolution, the late Imam Khomeini, active presence of all people in all aspects of the revolution and carrying out Islamic teachings were three reasons behind the triumph of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. 1422/1432
