Iran not to give up right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes: Speaker
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Mashhad, Razavi Khorassan Prov, Feb 9, IRNA -- Majlis Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel on Wednesday reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran will by no means give up its legitimate right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Addressing a large group of local people of the city of Qouchan, in this northeastern province, he said that the Supreme Leader, the government, the parliament and even the people have repeatedly announced that Iran was not after development of nuclear weapons. On Iran`s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Haddad Adel said Tehran has repeatedly proved its good intentions aimed at confidence building to the agency. The IAEA inspectors have time and again inspected Iran`s nuclear installations, he added. "If today we hear incorrect remarks by the European officials on Iran`s peaceful nuclear activities, it is because they want to deny the Iranian people access to peaceful nuclear technology," the Majlis speaker said. "If the Europeans want to deprive us of progress in the field of peaceful nuclear technology under cover of negotiations, the Iranian nation will not surrender to their pressures," he noted. 1422/1412
