IRAN AND EU COUNTRIES TO RECOMMENCE TALKS ON NUCLEAR PROBLEMS

RIA Novosti

VIENNA, February 8 (RIA Novosti, Boris Pechnikov) - Iran and the European Union Troika - Germany, France and Great Britain - will resume the talks on the Iranian nuclear program in Geneva on Tuesday.

As RIA Novosti was told in the secretariat of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei welcomes the resumption of the talks, and holds the view that concrete results can be attained before the meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors scheduled for February 28.

Back last November Iran informed the EU representatives that it is ready to take measures to build confidence and to discontinue the uranium-enrichment work. But Berlin, Paris and London are insisting on renunciation of materialization of the complete nuclear cycle which still figures in Iran's nuclear program.

In return, the EU countries intend to supply the most up-to-date nuclear technologies to Iran and to build light-water reactors there.

On the day before, Iran threatened to stop the talks with the EU if no concrete results are attained before March 15.
