IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Feb 1, IRNA -- Chairman of the Expediency Council Akbar
Hashemi Rafsanjani said here Tuesday threats made by the United
States and the Zionist regime against Iran are a psychological war.
"America is aware (of the fact) that the Iranian nation will show
a severe respond to any adventurism," Rafsanjani said in a meeting
with Lebanese National Defense Minister Murad Abdul Rahim.
"The United States is unable to settle its problems in Iraq and
Afghanistan and the Zionist regime cannot solve problems in
Palestine and Lebanon and use such words to shift the blame on
others."
He appreciated resistance of the Lebanese government and nation
in fight against aggression of the Zionist regime and added, "The
Islamic Republic of Iran will continue spiritual support for the
Lebanese and Palestinian nations (in their campaign) to restore their
rights and free their occupied lands."
The EC chairman welcomed the stance and policies of the Lebanese
government on Zionist regime`s occupation in Palestine and Lebanon and
stressed reinforcement of solidarity among the Iranian, Syrian and
Lebanese nations and support for the Palestinian people regarding the
current regional and international developments.
Rafsanjani assessed progress made by Iran in various defense
issues as very favorable and voiced Iran`s readiness to exchange
experience with Lebanon in this regard.
Abdul Rahim, for his part, appreciated Iran`s support for the
Lebanese nation and government and said resistance of the Lebanese
nation will continue to make the occupied lands free.
He criticized ignorance of international organizations on
Zionist regime`s crimes, adding the international bodies keep
silence on repeated attacks of the Zionist regime but raise hue and
cry with least resistance of the Lebanese nation.
