Iran-EU nuclear talks to resume soon
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Vienna, Jan 26, IRNA -- The next round of nuclear talks between Iran and the European Union will begin within next weeks in a European country, probably in Switzerland, said an Iranian diplomat here on Wednesday. "Iran and the EU will proceed with their talks in a positive atmosphere and expectations," the Iranian diplomat with the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA, told IRNA. The two sides are satisfied with the result of the earlier talks and have made progress, he added. He also refuted the claim made by Associated Press that the talks had reached a dead-end, saying "the claim is baseless. Both sides have made achievements in the talks." He said however that there are some disagreement in any negotiations and that is natural, adding that the representatives from Iran and the EU have reached agreement on some issues and made effort to reach to a common point on other issues through continuation of talks. The Iranian and EU representatives will hold the new round of their talks in a European city, most probably in Geneva, Switzerland, he added. Commenting on the result of the nuclear talks, he noted, " The talks have ups and downs. Holding further talks are required for some other cases." The talks between Iran and the EU trio (Germany, France and Britain), have neutralized the US threats and propaganda (against Iran), and have caused US to fail in its efforts to refer Iran`s nuclear case to the UN Security Council. The EU big three including Germany, France and Britain have been negotiating with Tehran on its nuclear program. The latest round of talks between Iran and the European Union`s "big three" -- the EU3 -- were held earlier this month in Geneva, Switzerland. 1405/1412
