Schroeder reaffirms `no` to US military intervention in Iran
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Berlin, Jan 25, IRNA -- German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder reiterated his strong opposition to an American military intervention in Iran, calling once again for a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue, the media reported Tuesday. "It must not get to the point where there is a military intervention. Nobody needs a new conflict," Schroeder said during a New Year reception of his Social Democratic Party (SPD) in Berlin. Pointing to the ongoing political talks between the European Union and Iran, the chancellor stressed that a diplomatic solution to the crisis was still possible. German leaders have strongly criticized the latest military threats issued by US President George W. Bush, who has refused to rule out the military option in Iran. OT/2321/1432
