IAEA will not inspect Parchin facilities: Asefi
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Jan 9, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said here Sunday inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would not inspect military facilities of Parchin. Talking to reporters at his weekly press conference, Asefi said the IAEA has called for taking samples from parts of the green area of Parchin. "Iran agreed with the request to build confidence and help close Iran`s nuclear dossier in the earliest time. "The United States and certain circles raised hue and cry in media in this regard and we agreed with the issue to prove that Iran has taken no non-peaceful measures," he said. Asked about the recent remarks by the French president on the rights of countries to benefit from international laws as well as his concerns over nuclear weapons, the spokesman stated, "Concerns over nuclear weapons are serious. We too have concerns over the issue. "The Islamic Republic believes the WMD-equipped countries, particularly the Zionist regime, are serious threats to the region. "But the issue should not lead to trampling on other countries` legal and inalienable rights to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. All aspects need an overall study if we are seeking an accurate assessment." 2327/1432
