Ramezanzadeh dismisses US allegations against IAEA chief

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Dec 13, IRNA -- Government spokesman Abdollah Ramezanzadeh
said the US has several times violated the international norms, saying
Iran has not held any secret talks with IAEA chief ElBaradei.
Talking to reporters on Monday, he said that the foreign ministry
is studying the issue, adding, "We expect the country, which invites
others to respect the international norms, to do so itself."
The US officials have intercepted the protocol conversation of
Iranian diplomats with the IAEA as if the directors of the
international organizations should not have telephone conversation
with representatives of the member states.
Commenting the trial of the al-Qaida members in Iran, Ramezanzadeh
said, "We consider Al-Qaeda actions as violence. Therefore, the
judicial system has done something about an Iranian national who had
sympathy with them and had committed some actions inside Iran."
A justice official in Iran`s Kurdestan said last Tuesday that a
few Iranians related to Al-Qaeda were detained in the province of
Kurdestan.
Regarding Iraq elections and accuse Iran of interfering in Iraq,
he said that holding elections in Iraq is considered as the way for
ending violence in the country, adding, "Iran is for holding free
and fair elections in Iraq and does its best to that effect."
He said there is no need to interfere in the affairs of Iraqi
nation. To Iran, the will of the Iraqi nation is acceptable.
The Jordanian monarch told the Washington Post last Friday that
Iran was trying to influence Iraqi elections set for January 30 in a
bid to create a "crescent" dominated by Shia Muslims extending from
Iraq to Lebanon.
In similar statements to the US daily, Iraq`s Sunni interim
President Ghazi al-Yawar also accused Iran of interfering in his
country.
Iraqi Vice-President Ibrahim al-Jaafari denied that Iran was
trying to influence Iraqi elections with the aim of creating a
"crescent" dominated by Shia Muslims in the region, Jaafari was
quoted by Kuwaiti newspapers as saying during a visit to the emirate.
