IAEA official denies NYT report on Iranian sites

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Vienna, Dec 3, IRNA -- International Atomic Energy Agency`s
pokesperson Melissa Fleming denied here Friday an American newspaper
report concerning IAEA request for inspecting `Lavisan II`.
New York Times claimed on Thursday that IAEA inspectors wanted
access to two alleged secret military sites of "Parchin", southeast
of Tehran, and "Lavisan II", northeast of the capital.
In the report, NYT also wrote that according to the agreement
between Iran and IAEA, the agency could only inspect non-military
nuclear sites and not military bases.
The paper added IAEA inspectors do not have permission to enter
military compounds.
Speaking to IRNA, Fleming said the agency or the director general
in their report or negotiations never talked about Lavisan II and
never asked for inspection of that site.
Fleming added NYT report does not contain any new point and said
the director general in his latest report to the IAEA Governing
Council officially requested to inspect Parchin site.
Concerning NYT claim that there have been experiments with
explosives in the two aforementioned sites, Fleming said, "We have no
comment or explanation".
The New York Times reported Thursday that IAEA chief Mohamed Al
Baradei had asked Tehran repeatedly and unsuccessfully for access to
Parchin and Lavisan II.
