ElBaradei verifies Iran`s suspension of enrichment related, reprocessing activities

Vienna, Nov 29, IRNA -- The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Mohamed ElBaradei here Monday said the Agency had been able to complete its verification of Iran`s suspension of its enrichment related and reprocessing activities. Addressing reporters before the start of the Monday afternoon meeting of the Board of Governors, he said the only exception is related to Iran`s request to use up to 20 sets of centrifuge components for research and development (R and D) purposes. Today, Agency inspectors put surveillance cameras in place to monitor the 20 sets of centrifuge components, he said announcing that the identification numbers have also been received. As a consequence, all measures necessary for the verification of Iran`s suspension of enrichment related activities are now in place, he added. "Naturally, I will inform board members should the suspension not be fully sustained, or should the Agency be prevented from verifying all elements of the suspension," ElBaradei reiterated. Iran`s stands towards completion of enrichment is undoubtedly in a correct way which reduces international concern regarding the nature of Iran`s nuclear activities, he said adding that such a move will lead to confidence building regarding Iran`s nuclear programs. The more transparent Iran will be in its nuclear activities, the better the Agency will be able to convince the international community regarding peaceful nature of Iran`s nuclear programs, ElBaradei told reporters. 1422/2322/1432
