Gov`t spokesman: Europe`s draft resolution "appropriate"
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Nov 29, IRNA -- Government spokesman Abdollah Ramezanzadeh described Europe`s draft resolution for deliberation by the International Atomic Energy Agency`s (IAEA) Board of Governors as "appropriate." Speaking to reporters at his weekly press briefing here Monday, he, however, qualified his statement by saying the resolution had not met all Iranian demands. "There are still points evidencing lack of trust," he noted. Nonetheless, Ramezanzadeh said the draft was good in the present circumstances and in so far as the future objectives of the country were concerned. On the differing views of Iran and the European countries, he said at the beginning no common points existed between the two sides and for which reason they had to engage in dialogues and negotiations. The spokesman believed the amended draft resolution of the European Big 3 which has been submitted to the IAEA Board of Governors for deliberation in its meeting today can be considered a victory for Iran`s objectives, and added that continuation of talks will further build trust on both sides. He referred to the provision in the draft resolution guaranteeing access to nuclear technology for peaceful purposes within the IAEA safeguards regime as the most important objective achieved by Iran. Minor points on which the two sides have not agreed can be resolved gradually, he added. 1424/2321/1432
