Normalization of Iran`s nuclear case, a time consuming process: spokesman
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Vienna, Nov 25, IRNA -- IAEA spokesman Mark Gwozdecky here on Thursday announced that normalization of Iran`s nuclear case is a time consuming process. He told IRNA that cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been improved. However, there are still some problems in access to information in a timely manner, he added. Asked about Iran`s chances to be taken out from the IAEA Board of Governors agenda, the spokesman said that it depends on the decision taken by the board and Iran`s cooperation with the agency. A full suspension process has been in effect in Iran as of this week except Iran`s request for the IAEA to exempt the country from its research and development activities of 20 centrifuges. Terming Iran`s move to suspend uranium enrichment as a voluntary act, Gwozdecky said inspecting Iran`s nuclear installation is in need of a lengthy time. The IAEA spokesman further pledged to have robust inspection to Iran`s nuclear installations. The agency needs to have information on all undeclared nuclear materials and activities in Iran, he also said. Gwozdecky expressed the hope that Iran and the European countries would reach an agreement on research programs of the Iranian centrifuges in the next 24 hours. "Suspension of centrifuges activities is a confidence building measure," he said stressing that Iran is not under legal obligations to comply with the European requests to halt centrifuges activities. 1422/1416
