ElBaradei verifies suspension of uranium by Iran

Vienna, Nov 25, IRNA -- Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed ElBaradei here on Thursday morning officially verified suspension of uranium enrichment by the Islamic Republic of Iran. Talking to reporters before the start of the inaugural session of the IAEA Board of Governors, he said the IAEA monitors have reported Iran`s full cooperation in line with suspension of uranium enrichment. Elbaradei pointed out that all essential components of centrifuges as defined by the agency will be placed under IAEA seals, however the IAEA chief said that Iran had requested to use up to 23 centrifuges for research and development (R&D) purposes. Iran has also made clear that no nuclear materials will be used in R&D process, he added. 1422/2322/1432
