Consultations on Iran`s nuclear program continuing in Vienna
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Vienna, Nov 24, IRNA -- Consultations on Iran`s nuclear program at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) were continuing in the Austrian capital city on Wednesday. Representatives of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member states of the IAEA`s 35-member Board of Governors opened a meeting on the issue Wednesday morning which is still going on. Meanwhile, a meeting held between the NAM troika (Malaysia, Brazil, Cuba) and representatives of the European Big 3 (Germany, France, Britain) concluded on Tuesday evening without reaching a consensus on the Iran nuclear issue. The two sides discussed a draft resolution proposed by the European bloc on the nuclear standoff. The Islamic Republic of Iran has questioned several paragraphs of the draft resolution. Washington, which took the nuclear deal clinched last week by Iran and the EU Big 3 with guarded caution, has pushed for a "trigger mechanism" to be included in the Board of Governors resolution that is to be issued on Thursday. The trigger mechanism would make referral of Iran`s nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council mandatory in the event it is found to be in breach of its commitments on Thursday. 1422/2321/1432
