Mousavian: National nuclear policies watched closely by Supreme Leader
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Nov 17, IRNA -- Head of the Supreme National Security Council foreign policy committee Hossein Mousavian said here Wednesday that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Seyed Ali Khamenei has been supervising Iran`s nuclear policies from the very beginning. He added that the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Hassan Rowhani just coordinates the relevant affairs and underlined that the issue is being followed up closely by the entire ruling system. "The related decisions are made by high-ranking government officials and the negotiators merely implement these decisions. Stressing that in the Paris session, the Iranian and European negotiators both gave and took some privileges, he said that a balance has been established in the process of such exchange. Dismissing the claim that the privileges given by Iran overshadowed those received in return, he said, "Iran will suspend the enrichment process next week, while the IAEA board of governors` resolution is expected to be released the following week. "Besides, immediately following the release of the resolution, Iran-EU trade talks are due to start and Iran`s membership in the group of suppliers of nuclear fuel should be discussed." Mousavian noted that also the working groups are expected to proceed taking the required measures two weeks after the release of the resolution and submit their report to the main committee in three months. He referred to Paris Agreement as a plan and said that all the measures and talks included in the document have been scheduled. The official said, "The agreement is not a legal undertaking. It rather marks the political will of Iran and Europe. "Iran has set four conditions for suspension of uranium enrichment. The suspension should be temporary, voluntary, without any legal undertaking and a confidence building measure." Mousavian noted that Iran accepted suspension of enrichment process based on the specified conditions. On the possibility of Iran`s talks with the US representative in the upcoming Iraq conference in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh about the country`s nuclear dossier, he said, "It has not yet been decided whether Iran will attend the upcoming meeting." 2326/2322/1432
