Western diplomat terms IAEA`s report on Iran as realistic
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Vienna, Nov 16, IRNA -- A western diplomat on Tuesday described the report released by the UN nuclear body`s Director General Mohammad El Baradei on Iran`s nuclear activities as `realistic and fair`. The report was submitted on Monday to the 35 member states in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors. In the report, the negative and positive points of Iran`s nuclear activities have been defined, the diplomat, whose country is among the EU trio, told IRNA. There are some sensitive and unsolved issues in the report which are to be studied by the nuclear agency, said the diplomat, adding that it may require a long time to clarify the issues. He expressed satisfaction with Iran`s agreement to suspend uranium enrichment. "Iran is planning to suspend uranium conversion activities from Nov. 22," Iran`s top nuclear official Hassan Rowhani told a news conference broadcast live on state television on Monday. Germany, France and Britain have reached to final agreement with Iran on a suspension of uranium enrichment pending ratification. Iran`s cooperation with the IAEA and Tehran-EU3 agreement will be taken note of in the IAEA meeting on November 25, said the diplomat who insisted not to be named. Whenever a deal is signed among the countries, the parties should observe it and there is no reason to overlook it, the diplomat said in response to a question as the EU is committed to guarantee economic and nuclear technology cooperation with Iran. In response to a question whether the November 25 meeting will be the last meeting of the IAEA`s Board of Governors to study Iran`s nuclear case, he said, "I do not know the answer to this." The UN watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, meets on Nov. 25 to discuss Iran`s nuclear program. 1405/2322/1432
