EU 3 gives answer to Iran on uranium enrichment

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Vienna, Nov 14, IRNA -- The EU trio on Sunday delivered its answer to
Iran`s Thursday proposal, a western diplomat announced on Sunday.
"The most important points of difference between the Islamic
Republic of Iran and European Union are the timing and extent of
suspending uranium enrichment program and the nuclear fuel cycle work,
which apparently remain unsolved," said the diplomat in an interview
with reporters here on Sunday.
Iran has agreed to a six-month suspension of the activities with
a limited scope, said the diplomat, adding that Europeans, however,
have kept the period of suspension open until a definite and lasting
agreement is reached on Iran`s nuclear program and on quality of
assisting the country in that connection.
He said that furthermore, Europeans call for a complete and
unlimited suspension of the uranium enrichment activities.
The diplomat, who wanted not to be named, said that Iran is
expected to give answer to Europeans` final stance as of Monday.
As for the Iran-EU talks, the diplomat said the talks are "slow
paced but progressive" and an agreement on the issue in short future
is not something inaccessible.
Iran`s Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi had told reporters in
Tehran on Monday that the talks with three big European states are
intensive and decisive, undergoing their final stages.
Kharrazi added that Iran had extended its final response to
European parties, waiting their answer.
Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
Mohamed ElBaradei is to provide the Agency`s 35-nation Board of
Governors with its final report on Iran`s nuclear case on Monday after
two times of delay.
Elbaradei is said to have been waiting final outcome of talks
between Iran and Europe so as to give a positive spin to its report
on Iran`s nuclear case in case the two parties reach an agreement.
Meanwhile, the US President George W. Bush said in a joint press
conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair recently that
Washington supports the Iran-EU talks.
