IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Nov 10, IRNA -- Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad Adel said on
Wednesday that the (nuclear) talks between Iran and the EU troika has
shown good progress, expressing hope that the talks will go on
successfully.
Speaking to reporters at the new site of the Majlis, he termed the
talks as Iran`s diplomacy power which will bring about positive
results.
The Iranian representatives (to the talks) do their best to
proceed with the negotiations, he said, adding that they make efforts
to put to use all the potentials to secure national interests.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the other
parties involved the talks with Iran have reached to this belief that
Iran is determined to defend its peaceful achievements for making use
of nuclear technology.
Turning to the extension of US sanctions against Iran, Haddad Adel
said, "This country has resorted to hostile policies against Iran
during the last 25 years though the policies have not brought about
benefits for the US."
US President George W. Bush on Tuesday extended for one year a
range of financial sanctions first imposed on Iran in November 1979,
the White House announced in a statement.
The original sanctions, imposed by the US then-president Jimmy
Carter, froze assets of Iran`s government following the November 1979
takeover of the US embassy in Tehran.
Haddad Adel also attached importance to the International Qods
Day, saying, "The International Qods Day is the day of solidarity of
Iranian nation and the world of Islam with the oppressed people of
Palestine."
Concerning the fate of the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat who is
in coma and critical condition sine last Thursday, Haddad Adel
stressed that the Palestinian nation will determine their own fate.
Arafat, who was evacuated from his headquarters the Muqataa in the
West Bank on October 29, has been in a coma in a military hospital on
the outskirts of Paris, and Palestinian officials have said his fate
is now `in the hands of God`.
Majlis speaker said that the Palestinian nation should be vigilant
not to be trapped by the Zionism plots and go on with their movement
to obtain their undeniable rights.
Regarding Iran`s policy over the solution of the Palestine`s
crisis, he stressed the policy the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei
has taken on Palestine that is holding elections in the occupied
territories among the Muslims, Christians and Jews and determining the
rights of the occupied Palestine based on the results of the
elections.
