IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Vienna, Nov 8, IRNA -- The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
chief Mohammad ElBaradei here Monday hoped that suspension of
uranium enrichment will be included in the preliminary Iran-EU
agreement.
The concerned officials from Iran and the EU trio announced that
in the two-day Paris meeting a preliminary accord was reached to this
end which should be approved by the senior officials of the four
countries.
According to an IAEA report, speaking to reporters in the
Australian city of Sidney on November 8, he said, "Despite high
hopes about the outcome of the negotiations, the details of the
agreements cannot yet be confirmed.
"I have been told that the agreement was experimental and
preliminary. Besides it has not yet been finalized. Therefore, we
should be cautious and not too optimistic on the expected outcome."
The IAEA chief expressed hope that the preliminary agreement
will include suspension of enrichment process to prove Iran`s good
understanding.
"The international community expects Iran to stop its uranium
enrichment process to attract the world confidence," added
ElBaradei.
He further hoped to witness the desired outcome, namely end
of all the operations associated with uranium enrichment process to
facilitate normalization of ties between Iran and the international
community.
Turning to inspection of Iran`s nuclear installations by the UN
nuclear watchdog in the past two years, he said that the trend will
continue.
Concerning his next report due to be submitted to the IAEA board
of governors at the meeting of November 25, he noted that it will
deal with Iran`s abidance by legal agreements and the issue of
confidence-building.
