Velayati: Iran never drops peaceful use of nuclear energy

Tehran, Oct 23, IRNA -- Ali Akbar Velayati senior advisor to Supreme Leader on international affairs said here Saturday the Islamic Republic of Iran will never drop peaceful use of nuclear energy in the field of industry, agriculture and science. Addressing a meeting of `Islamic Civilization Party` (ICP), Velayati emphasized that peaceful use of nuclear energy is a source of national pride for the people of Iran and no power can deprive this people of their legitimate rights. Velayati said the world arrogance is making hue and cry against Iran`s peaceful use of nuclear energy while some of Iran`s neighbours enjoy nuclear technology and the Zionist regime clearly declares that it has advanced nuclear warheads. The senior advisor to the Supreme Leader on international affairs added Iran has signed all international protocols and agreements concerning the peaceful use of nuclear energy and is bound to its obligations, but the US and other Western countries do not want Iran to become a modern and developed country. 1391/1771
