Iran, European trio to hold nuclear talks Thursday evening
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Vienna, Oct 21, IRNA -- Senior officials from the European trio -- France, Britain and Germany -- will confer with their Iranian counterparts on Thursday to discuss Tehran`s nuclear programs. The nuclear talks between Iran and the three European states will be held behind closed doors and in a secret location to avoid press coverage. The Iranian delegation is headed by Amir-Hossein Zamani-nia, Iran`s Foreign Ministry Director General for International Affairs. The European trio have already announced that they would provide Iran with nuclear technology if Tehran suspends all its uranium enrichment activities. We demand respect for our rights to have nuclear technology for civilian use, President Mohammad Khatami said in Tehran on Wednesday, adding Tehran was open to "dialogue and negotiation". Iran`s ambassador to the Vienna-based UN watchdog nuclear agency, IAEA, Pirouz Hosseini has said that Iran expects to receive a proposal from the European trio but that no decision will be reached on Thursday. "We have to receive the text of the proposal and then take it back to our capital and see if it is approved, if it is not approved, then that will be another story," he said. 1405/1432
