IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Moscow, Oct 19, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Efforts of Russia and its Eight partners to find decisions on Iran`s nuclear program will be continued in the run-up to the November summit of Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy (IAEA), the Russian Foreign Ministry`s official said. Commenting on the last week`s meeting of Group of Eight political directors in Washington, he said, "We shall work with our partners and Iranian colleagues in order to come to reciprocally acceptable understanding with account for respective resolutions of the IAEA Board of Governors that contain, among other things, a call on Iran to suspend as a trust measure the activity connected with enrichment or chemical reprocessing of nuclear materials." Russia `consistently advocates the lifting of all remaining issues regarding transparency and the character of Iran`s nuclear program by way of constructive interaction of Iran with the IAEA in favor of switching of the control activity of the agency to a normal, routine channel as soon as possible as it takes place in most of country members of the treaty on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons`, the ministry`s official said. The Group of Eight political directors held in Washington a `useful discussion on how to assist the goal that is laid down in the declaration of the `eight` passed during the summit on Sea Island`. The sides in particular discussed ways of lifting concerns over consequences of Iran`s nuclear program for non-proliferation and Tehran`s meeting all of its obligations under the treaty on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and an agreement on security guarantees. /2322/1432
