First generating unit of Bushehr nuclear power plant ready

Moscow, Oct 14, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- All the construction jobs of Russian and Iranian specialists on the first generating unit Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran have been completed Itar-Tass was told at the Federal Agency on Nuclear (Rosatom) here on Thursday after the end of the meeting between Alexander Rumyantsev, the Rosatom head, and Alaeddin Boroudjerdi, the visiting chairman of the Commission on Foreign Policy and National Security of the Iranian Parliament. "It only remains for the Russian specialists to assemble the unit`s control and safety equipment," a spokesman for Rosatom stated. "Most of this equipment is being made at Russian nuclear enterprises, while some of them the Iranian firms will have to buy in other countries," he added. "According to the schedule, agreed by the two countries, the generating unit is to be commissioned in mid-2005. It is to be connected to the power system of Iran and to pick up full load in 2006," the Rosatom spokesman stated. Moreover, he said, the sides had `exchanged views during their Thursday meeting on the creation of Iran`s own nuclear-fuel cycle`. /2322/1432
