EU, US to discuss Iran`s nuclear program
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Brussels, Oct 13, IRNA -- European and American diplomats are expected to meet at the end of the week in Washington to discuss a possible deal with Iran on its nuclear program, European diplomatic sources told IRNA in Brussels Wednesday. "The preparation of the "package" is still in the making,`` said the well-informed sources requesting anonymity. The sources said the report published in the New York Times on Tuesday on a possible deal with Iran that would give the Islamic Republic access to imported nuclear fuel in return for suspension of uranium enrichment activities "is true.`` Citing unnamed European and US diplomats, the American daily said that while Washington had not endorsed any incentives for Iran, it was not discouraging France, Germany and the UK (EU-3) from assembling a package that the Bush administration would consider after the November 2 election. EU foreign ministers in their meeting in Luxembourg on Monday said the European bloc was considering a package of incentives to offer to Iran in return for suspension of its uranium enrichment program. The EU-3 is leading the 25-member European bloc`s diplomacy with Iran on its nuclear program. NK/1412
