Russia terms Iran-IAEA cooperation as `positive`
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Moscow, Oct 13, IRNA -- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kisliak on Wednesday termed Iran`s cooperation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as positive. He made the remark in a meeting with visiting Chairman of Iran`s Majlis National Security Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi. He called for continuous cooperation between Iran and IAEA to foil political manipulation of other countries and build confidence. He also stressed Iran`s legal right to make use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. The Russian official termed Iran`s position in Russia`s foreign policy as important. He condemned the unilateral US attack on Iraq, saying this policy has led to violence in that country. Boroujerdi, for his part, reiterated the sensitive role of Majlis (parliament) in resolving critical issues such as nuclear activities. "Majlis backs measures taken so far in this regard, so that Iran would meet its legal rights," he said. While protecting the rights of the Iranian nation, Majlis tries to prevent imposition of anything above the country`s international obligations on Iran. He called the US `double standard` views as the main cause of problems now facing world countries. The two countries` officials also explored avenues for bilateral cooperation at regional and international affairs. 2331/1412
