Putin: "Iran does not need nuclear weapons"
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Moscow, Sept 25, IRNA -- Russian President Vladimir Putin declared on Friday that he was "convinced that Iran does not need nuclear weapons. "With them in possession, none of the problems confronting Iran, including the security issues in the region, can be solved," said Putin in response to a question at the ongoing World Congress of News Agencies` conference. "We are categorically opposed to the enlargement of the club of nuclear states and believe that Iran should meet the IAEA demands halfway with regard to all the positions set forth by that organization," said the president. /2321/1432
