Ria Novesti News Agency quoted Rumyantsev, who is Vienna to attend the IAEA meeting, as saying that the Bushehr nuclear powerplant is the only joint nuclear project between the two countries. He further reiterated that the project is based on strict international laws and IAEA regulations. He also said that the reason for delay of signing the agreement on return of Bushehr`s spent fuel is due to incompletion of the commrecially-related issues. Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Fedotov here in September reiterated the need to settle the case on Iran`s nuclear activities peacefully. He told IRNA that the US allegations and military threats against Iran are unacceptable. "Russia`s policy towards Iran stipulated that the country`s nuclear issue should only be solved in Vienna and within the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," he added. Turning to the ongoing talks on Iran`s nuclear program by the IAEA Board of Governors, he said: "Russia favors settlement of the issue in such a way as will lead neither to a crisis nor to any disruption of ties in the region." Fedotov pointed to the prospect of sending Iran`s nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council as "irrational." He said that the agency should use its powers to the fullest to settle the problem. 2324/1432
