200 lawmakers reject IAEA resolution

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Sept 19, IRNA -- More than 200 lawmakers in a statement here
Sunday rejected a resolution passed by the International Atomic
Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors regarding Iran`s nuclear
issue.
The statement was read by a member of the Majlis Presiding board,
Alireza Zakani, at the Majlis open session here today.
According to the document, the lawmakers also regretted the
improper response of the Board of Governors to Iran`s goodwill in
assuring the international community of Iran`s intent to use
nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
"They also warned the board of governors that if they continue
their present policy they cannot expect the Additional Protocol to be
ratified," added the statement.
It further said that the illegal resolution makes Iran consider
revising its policy towards continuing its obligations within the
framework of the additional protocol and letting the IAEA continue
inspections of its nuclear installations.
In addition, the lawmakers announced through the statement that
they will seriously continue working on the fuel cycle for the nuclear
power station without paying attention to such resolutions.
The statement underlined: "In case the IAEA Board of Governors
continues with its current policy, Majlis will make appropriate
decisions in response."
