Russian deputy FM urges peaceful solution to Iran`s nuclear case
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Moscow, Sept 7, IRNA -- Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Fedotov here Friday reiterated the need to settle the case on Iran`s nuclear activities peacefully. He told IRNA that the US allegations and military threats against Iran are unacceptable. "According to Russia`s policy towards Iran, the country`s nuclear issue should only be solved in Vienna and within the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," he added. Turning to the ongoing talks on Iran`s nuclear program by the IAEA Board of Governors, he said: "Russia favors settlement of the issue in such a way as will lead neither to a crisis nor to any disruption of ties in the region." Fedotov pointed to the prospect of sending Iran`s nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council as "irrational." He said that the agency should use its powers to the fullest to settle the problem. 2326/2321/1432
