Moussavian denies any nuclear activity at Parchin site
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Vienna, Sept 16, IRNA -- The Spokesman of the Iranian delegation to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors, Hossein Moussavian here Thursday categorically denied any kind of nuclear activities at the site of Parchin, in southwest Tehran. Parchin, 30 km (18 miles) southwest of Tehran, is a site for industrial activities of Iran`s defense organization. In an interview with IRNA, Moussavian stressed that the IAEA has not yet called for a visit to the Iranian site of Parchin. "This is a new lie by the Americans. The Americans, in fact, have repeatedly lied about Iran`s nuclear activities during the past one year," he added. This is a policy adopted by Washington to tell a lie amid such important meetings, he said. Moussavian once again reiterated that the IAEA has not requested a visit of the Parchin site. If the agency, at any time, announces its eadiness to inspect the site, Tehran would willingly let the IAEA inspectors to visit the site, he added. Whenever the US can not achieve its political goals, Washington resorts to such a childish propaganda, the Iranian diplomat noted. Iran`s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said on Sunday that the IAEA request to visit Parchin had only been the subject of "preliminary discussions" after diplomats in Vienna said Iran was holding out on allowing inspector access to the site. 1422/2324/1432
